MaMa Vaas by Roderick Vos
The impressive MaMa vase by Roderick Vos seems to be a fusion of three vases. The MaMa vase has three separate chalices for your flowers. Although this large white vase is also beautiful enough without the flower. She is available in three different colours: apart from black also in white and bronze and on request in tompuce pink and 'ugly glazes '. The last is a combination of colours: Blue from the top with orange-brown copper flames at the bottom. The vase has a diameter of 33 cm and a height of 43 cm.
Inspiration for the MaMa vase
Nature is an important source of inspiration for Roderick Vos. The organic shape of the MaMa vase is no exception: Roderick has been inspired by biological structures and cell divisions. The MaMa vase consists of three vase shapes that fuse together like a flower. Roderick Vos designed the MaMa vase in 1998 and since then the vase is an absolute design classic. The colour variants are of the later date. In the development and elaboration of the vase Roderick had as a starting point that he wanted to realize a vase that would be beautiful enough without flowers. As far as we are concerned, that’s what he has accomplished.
Roderick Vos, designer
Roderick Vos (Groningen, 1965) studied Industrial Design at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. He left for Japan in 1987 where his interest in Asian culture and products increased. This fascination for Asia is – even today - reflected in his designs. After his studies, he started together with his partner Studio Roderick Vos in 's-Hertogenbosch. Roderick Vos has a clear concept of design: "in my opinion designs need to incorporate some form of modesty. When designers try too hard to 'design', the message does not come across. Simplicity is the key to success, give a product itself the space to tell the story. The idea of evolution I find fascinating and I try to have this interwoven in my designs: has a product the right to live? The fusion of old crafts with innovative industrial techniques is a key characteristic of my designs."
